Boys' Baseball Wins Back-And-Forth Affair against Americas

The baseball team took on Americas High School on Friday, March 31 and fought their way to  a nail-biter victory.

Americas scored 4 runs in the first inning, but the Troopers managed to stop the momentum. In the bottom of the first inning, Alec Espinoza hit a line drive to left field starting a rally for the Troopers. Alex Martinez followed a line drive single to left field advancing Espinoza to second. Alec Contreras got on base by a walk leaving the bases loaded. With two outs,both strikeouts, Josh Davis delivered a triple, scoring all three runs. Kevin Cox polished off the inning with a hard hit ground ball to left field scoring Davis from third.

Americas scored two more runs in the second inning, but Eastwood quickly evened things up in the bottom of the fourth inning. With a two-out rally, Onassis Venegas was able to get on base with a walk and Espinoza drove him in with a single to left.  Espinoza was then brought in by Martinez, tying things up with a 6-6 score.

The boys took the lead for good in the fifth inning to reel in the lead from the back and forth game.

The game ended with a final score of 8-6.  Chavez, Espinoza, and Martinez each collected multiple hits for Troopers.
