Trooper boys' lose tough game to Montwood

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, the 4-5 varsity boys' basketball team had an unfortunate loss against the Pebble Hills Spartans.

The team, led by Head Coach Gary Pippen said that they would continue the fight to the finish.

"Well, our team didn't play hard enough," Pippen said. "It was simple mistakes that got to us and caused our team to fall apart after halftime."

Junior Richard Reyes said that he wants the team to go deep into playoffs but that the lack of chemistry might cause them to fall short.

"When we don't lack teamwork and communication we are a successful whole and we actually compete together like basketball is supposed to be instead of competing as individuals," Reyes said.

Sophomore Joseph Barnes said that he's excited to be on varsity for the season.

"I was extremely honored and privileged to play at a varsity level this year," Barnes said "It has allowed me to see all the different opportunities out there."

Pippen said he wants to make the playoffs as well, but that there are several issues that need to be addressed before the end of the season.

"By working hard, and dedicating ourselves to the game, I know that we can get to the top," Pippen said. "But if we continue to play individually our team will fall apart before we can even think about the playoffs."

The next varsity basketball game is at 6:30 P.M. on Friday, Feb. 3 against the Socorro Bulldogs in the Bob Lesley Gym.
