Soccer wins Bi-district Championship, loses Area

Boys soccer traveled to Midland, Texas on March 25th to compete in the District 1-6A Bi-District championship against Amarillo Tascosa. The boys defeated Amarillo 8-0.

Eastwood finished second overall in the district standings, and faced Tascosa, who finished 3rd in their district.

Head coach David Rosen talks about the team's victory over Tascosa.

"We played a good game, they had a couple of injured players but once we got the lead on them they lost their focus and we continued to jump on them." Rosen said.

Senior David Standridge was very happy that he and the team were able to advance to Area for his senior year.

"We were all well prepared, and we all came out to win" Standridge said. "Now it's time to take what we have to Area and hopefully we can advance to the next round."

The boys next traveled to Lubbock to play against Fort Worth North Crowley. They played at Frenship high school as a neutral site for the Area playoff game.

North Crowley won their district title and were a tough opponent for the team. Rosen reflects on the way the game was played.

"We probably should have scored in the first half since we had the wind blowing our way" Rosen said. "They scored in the second half on a long free kick that was headed in."

The boys had some chances to score but were unable to. They ended their run in playoffs losing 1-0 to North Crowley in the Area championship.

"It was an awesome finish getting to compete for another Area championship my senior year" said Standridge. "Hopefully next years team can go further than us and win Area."
