Softball team ready to begin season

With plenty of scrimmages under their belt, the ladies on the varsity softball team are ready to officially start their season.

Junior pitcher Triana Kennedy is eager and very confident heading into this year.

"We have the tools to win," Kennedy said. "If we play as a team we should come out on top."

Senior outfielder Natalie Benitez feels that the experience the team has shared will help them prevail this season.

"This year’s team has been together for three years now," Benitez said. "We have what it takes to beat anyone this year."

Kennedy feels the team has much to learn, but can overcome it together.

"We have a lot to work on." Kennedy said. "But we are getting better. Just as long as we keep working hard and work together."

Everyone on the team shares a common goal.

"Our goal as a team is to win district and the win in the playoffs." Kennedy said.

This year’s squad is very close and diverse.

"Our group is very close knit," Benitez said. "Each of us brings something different to the table. Every single player on the team has great talent, so when we put it together, we're very dominant."

The team has their first game on February 16 against Mountain View High School at 4 pm at Scottsdale Elementary.
