The Eastwood swimming team faced strong competion at the Armijo

The Eastwood girls' and boys' swim teams competed against Cathedral and Loretto at the meet in Armijo Aquatic Center on Friday, October 24. The teams have been hard at work after a shaky start of the season at last week's SISD Invitational.

The girls' team went up against the girls from Loretto Academy ready to redeem themselves. "We had a rough start last week, so we've really been working on our problem areas," said captain Danielle Ochoa. The team placed first against Loretto with much stronger times than last week. The girls we're very much satisfied with their results believing that this was how the season should've started. "I'm so proud of the girls, and I feel like we have shown that we mean business," said captain Georgina Salas. The girls will continue to work hard in order to make this season much more successful than the previous one.

The boys' team competed against Cathedral High School this last meet after placing second after the Cathedral boys at the SISD Invitational. "We are really hoping to make this season just as amazing as the last, if not better," said captain Leonardo Sanchez. The Eastwood boys ran behind Cathedral again, placing second at this week's swim meet. Despite the continuous winning streaks from last season, the team faces much stronger competition. "We've been working so hard but we never expected for the competition to be so intense," said captain Angel Macias. The team is ready to get more serious about the competition.

The Eastwood swimming teams will be competing on Friday, October 31 at the Cowen Aquatic Center against Coronado High School.
