The Eastwood Tennis team competed in their first tournament of the fall team season last Friday and Saturday, September 5-6. The Troopers tried their best, but to no avail; they lost overall to El Paso High School 16 matches to 3 and Chapin High School 13-6.

In spite of their loss, Coach Stan Anderson has the optimistic outlook that "the team is just trying to figure how to win and finish matches while they're ahead."
The team redeemed themselves following their loss and won against Burges High School, placing first in all categories.
In the boys' singles, Stallings won against his opponent 8-1, and John Martinez won 6-3. In the girls' singles, Greene won 8-1, Iyari Fierro won 8-5, and Alexis Moore won 8-3.

"It depends on how much work the team puts in. I'm really happy with the lineup, and I have faith in my team. I expect them to do great this year," said Montenegro (senior).
The team's next match is Tuesday, September 16 against Austin High School at Austin.
