Have you ever seen a gigantic plant consume humans? Eastwood's theatre gives audiences the opportunity to witness this in the musical "Little Shop of Horrors", which will be performed on January 30-31 and February 1-2 with a daytime performance on the 7. Technical director, Noelle Mullenix, shared a brief synopsis.  "It's a story about a man who's a nobody and becomes a somebody because he finds a plant and feeds it. Later, it grows into this huge alien monster that wants to devour people."  The history of the musical dates back to the '60's black and white film. Later in the '80's, the film was adapted into a musical on Broadway. By '86 it was remade into an academy award nominated film.

Larissa Rollins, Eastwood's theatre director, was motivated to produce this musical during last years musical theatre auditions. "I was really impressed with the students on how much talent they had. Because "Little Shop of Horrors" has a lot of vocal musical numbers, I thought it would be a great fit."  She explained. Rollins also shared that this was one of the hardest auditions she's ever had. "We spent a week on auditions. I was looking for honesty, also to see who was prepared because that shows me who's going to work hard." She also expressed her goal for the audience. "The show's something different, it gives a real campy, black and white, drive-in type of feeling, therefore I want them to have fun." Mullenix, who's in charge of set, props, and costumes, explained her difficulties with preparing for the play. "The play happens in the 50's and finding things from the time zone that we no longer live in is challenging.  Also giving a comic and dark mood with the two sets on one stage." She also talked about the plant. "Audrey 2 (the plant) was a purchase that we made from a Dallas school. It has so many pieces that have to work as an animated object when it's actually inanimate." All in all, Mullenix has a strong belief on how the show will turn out. "I think it's going to be a fun show, I'm excited to see the final product."

January 30, 31, and February 1 the show will be playing in Eastwood's theater at 7 pm and on February 2 the show will play at 2:30 pm. Everyone is welcomed to watch the musical that's been around for over three decades.
