The Lady Troopers took down the Socorro Bulldogs Friday night in an exciting game that resulted in one period of over-time. Eastwood started off the game quickly. The girls were able to score nine points during the first period, which put them in the lead with a score of 9-7 at the end of the period.The Lady Troopers scored an additional 12 points to add to their total. They had a strong lead by the end of the second period and were confidently leading the game 21-12 at half-time.
The girls' confidence took a hit when Socorro came back in the third period and scored 12 points. Eastwood only scored with one lay-up. The score was 23-24, with the Bulldogs in the lead. Eastwood's determination showed in the fourth period when they played strong defensively to prevent Socorro from scoring. This brought the score up to a tie at 34-34.
The girls were able to score six points during over-time to win the game. Socorro scored three points to bring their score to 37. This wasn't enough to take down the Lady Troopers, however, and Eastwood defeated Socorro 40-37.
Senior Sarah Skov scored a total of 17 points throughout the game to help the Lady Troopers bring their record to 12-10. The girls' varsity basketball team will take on Coronado at home Tuesday night.
