On Tuesday, the Eastwood volleyball team traveled to Andrews, Texas to take on Amarillo Tascosa in a bi-district match in state playoff bracket 1-5A.
Unfortunately, the Troopers closed out their season losing to the Rebels in a three to none set match with scores of 19-25, 11-25, and 16-25.
Senior Kimberly Urquidi felt that overall her team played really well in this match. "We started off very strong, but played a bit timid in the second and third sets," said Urquidi.
Despite the score deficits throughout the match, the Troopers found some elements of their gameplay to be quite impressive. "We excelled in our defense on their middle hitters," Urquidi indicated. "We shut them down fast and found gaps in their defense that allowed us to go on some point runs."
The team felt that they ended on a strong note. "We went through a lot this season with injuries and various things, but in the end that just brought us closer and made us work harder to get into the state playoffs and finish strong while enjoying every moment together," Urquidi concluded.
The 2013-2014 Eastwood varsity volleyball team left it all out on the court this season as they ended with an overall record of 22-13-1.
