The Start of a New School Year

Once again the halls were filled with commotion, bursting at the seams. It’s the start of a new school year the last for some and just the beginning for others.

“I really like the first week. It’s such a good time, seeing all these people and teachers again, but as soon as we hit the middle of the year… It stinks.” Said junior Cristina Serna.

“I could pretty much feel the excitement and the dread by the vibes people gave off just walking down the hallway!” Said Senior Gabbi Sanchez. No one could have said it better; one look and you knew exactly a person’s mentality.

Maybe it’s just the fact that there isn’t much work involved at first or perhaps it’s the thrill of seeing everyone again that makes this first week so hectic; explains Senior Kandie Diaz. With all that’s going on, there tends to be different perspectives on how people feel about the start of school.

“Man I’m so done with High school already, 100 percent done. I mean don’t get me wrong I love it, but I’m ready to move on… Still I will never forget Eastwood and all my memories here.” Says Diaz later.

It’s a mixture of feelings, a giant churning pot of emotions, one could say, as the first week comes around.

“I think the way you start out you’re first week is very indicative to how the rest of the year will go, fortunately it was very enjoyable and smooth.” Says English III teacher Mr. Casas. Nevertheless anyone will tell you that they are eagerly awaiting to see what the 2013-2014 year will bring.
